Dr Christine (Kirsty) Laws graduated from Otago Medical School and then worked in Wellington, first at Wellington Hospital, then in private practice. In 1989 her anaesthetist husband’s work took the family to Hong Kong, where she worked for Medecins Sans Frontieres in a refugee camp clinic for a year, and then in a hospital for rehabilitation of spinal injuries and neurological diseases for 5 years. The family returned in 1997, and Kirsty started work at Red Beach Doctors in 2001. Kirsty is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners and previous Censor Fellowship for the College. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice, including care of long-term medical conditions and ear suction.
She believes treatment of urgent problems is an important aspect of General Practice, and has just completed her Diploma of Community Emergency Medicine.
In their spare time she and her husband Tim enjoy classical music, travel, and working on their bush block near Puhoi.
