Dr Rebekah Thompson studied a Bachelor of Science and then Medicine at the University of Otago and soon into her clinical time discovered a love of General practice and the diversity it has to offer.

Growing up in the Hawkes Bay followed by student breaks spent in Central Otago has consolidated an appreciation of a good wine and avidity for snowboarding.

Graduating in 2006 she moved to the Hibiscus Coast and realised what a privilege it is to be a part of this community and benefit from its coastal tranquillity and close proximity to a thriving city.

After finishing the first stage of the General practice training program Rebekah joined the team at Red Beach Family Medical in 2011 and has enjoyed being part of the vibrant partnership that has developed at Silverdale Medical.

Rebekah obtained her Fellowship qualification in February 2014 before taking some time out to have her second child. Rebekah continues to enjoy a broad range of medicine and in particular paediatrics. Upon her return to General Practice, it soon became apparent that there was a need in our population for more knowledge in the area of allergies. In 2018 Rebekah completed post graduate training in Allergic diseases through the University of Western Sydney achieving a Dean's merit award for placing in the top 10% of her year.
