Mr Anthony Cheng

Anthony gained his first tertiary degree with the prestigious Physiology Department at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. During this time he was involved in teaching undergraduate students and medical research projects exploring how the body's immune system combats infection and illness. He gained an Honours Degree in Physiology with the highlight being awarded the Gordon J. Spylo award for academic excellence, leadership and promoting camaraderie with fellow students.

He was first exposed to the intricacies of surgery while working at the world renowned Lawson Health Research Institute and undertaking medical research in foetal physiology and the effects of foetal hypoxia on brain development.

After developing a passion for surgery. Anthony went on to graduate from Auckland Medical School with Distinction in 2006. He began orthopaedic surgical training in 2008 with training posts in Palmerston North, Hamilton and Auckland.  He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2015.

He extended his training in Australia at the esteemed Royal North Shore Hand and Peripheral Nerve Surgery Unit and Macquarie University Hand Unit. Completing fellowships in Hand and Wrist Surgery, Brachial Plexus Injuries and Wrist Arthroscopy.

Anthony is proud to be the first New Zealand hand surgeon awarded the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Post Fellowship Education Training (PFET) Programme Certificate in Hand and Wrist surgery.

​He is now a consultant surgeon in New Zealand's largest Orthopaedic Department at North Shore Hospital in Auckland, as well as maintaining a private practice specialising in Hand and Wrist surgery. He is an active member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, New Zealand Orthopaedic Society and the New Zealand Society for Hand Surgery. He contributes to the teaching and training of new surgeons and has ongoing research interests in orthopaedic biotechnology.

Mr John English

John is a New Zealand trained Orthopaedic Surgeon, who has spent several years training in hospitals throughout New Zealand. He completed his fellowships in London with further subspecialist training in upper extremity surgery, joint replacement, arthroscopy, and trauma.

He currently holds a position at Auckland City Hospital as an Orthopaedic Consultant and has an established private practice. His specialty is in Upper Limb disorders, Hip and Knee joint replacements and Knee arthroscopy.

Dr Rob Sharp

I have been in both public and private practice on the North Shore since 2004. My main focus is Hip and Knee surgery with emphasis on joint replacement surgery integrating established techniques with computer and robotic assistance.

Dr Shihab Faraj

I am a full time private consultant orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty training in upper limb surgery. I have a particular interest in disorders of the hand, elbow and shoulder but I will happily see patients with any orthopaedic conditions. I will also be happy to assist in the care of patients following accidents covered under ACC.

Dr Melissa Rossaak

I’ll be assisting Silverdale Medical with the management of their patients with acute injuries as well as elective orthopaedic problems.

I graduated from WITS, Johannesburg with my primary medical qualification in 1997. I moved to New Zealand in 2000 and completed my specialist orthopaedic training in 2011 gaining a Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. My special interests are, Knee arthroplasty (computer navigated), Knee arthroscopy and Foot and ankle surgery

Dr Helen Rawlinson

Helen works as a consultant in orthopaedic surgery at Auckland City Hospital focusing on adult orthopaedic trauma, adult foot & ankle surgery, hip & knee arthroplasty as well as other general orthopaedic surgery.

Dr Dean Schluter

I graduated from Otago University Medical School in 1990 and the New Zealand Orthopaedic training programme in 2002, gaining my FRACS. During the training programme I spent 6 months in Toronto Canada, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Invercargill.

My post graduate training following this was:
6 months doing Orthopaedic Trauma at Auckland Hospital
6 months doing hip and knee replacement and complex revision surgery at Mt Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada
6 months doing knee surgery (ACL reconstruction and sports injuries) at Chelsea Westminster Hospital in London, England
6 months doing hip and knee replacement and complex revisions and computer navigation at Royal Melbourne and Epworth Hospitals, Melbourne
6 months doing foot and ankle surgery at Royal Melbourne and Epworth Hospitals Melbourne, Australia.
I have been working at North Shore Hospital since January 2006 and my private practice is on the North Shore.
